Apparently Bill Belichik believes that Kerry Rhodes is so overrated, he wouldn’t crack the Patriots roster. Hollywood, as Rhodes is known to his teammates, laughed off the critique.
Maybe if Rhodes were doped up on HGH–like one of the Patriots prize safeties, Belichik would seek to praise his division rival.
I can’t wait for week one.
God I hate the Patriots.
Caught a glimpse of the Jets final roster here. Can’t say I’m really surprised by any of the cuts. I am, however, a bit shocked that we kept Tuiasosopo around for the season. Sure, he directed a pretty decent drive at the end of the Eagles game and Brad Smith turned in a pretty wretched performance, but why waste a roster spot on a QB that will only ever play if the season is in the shitter already. Hopefully, if Pennington and Clemens go down, they go with the versatile Smith and allow him to get some reps in to see if he’d ever be a viable started for the Jets at QB rather than tread water with the career backup Tuiasosopo.
Danny Ware probably should have made the team too, but judging how Stacy Tutt did when acting as a tailback, I can see why they decided to go with two pure tailbacks (Jones and Washington) and two bruising fullbacks (Barnes and Tutt). I’m guessing Ware wasn’t the best special teams player which is what most of these backups will only be playing on a regular basis.
It’s good to see–apart from our defensive line–that our linebackers and defensive backs are pretty much the same as last year with the additions of our prized first and second round draftees (CB Revis and LB Harris). Continuity helps defensives improve. Our d-line got a bit younger and explosiveness will hopefully make up for the lack of true veteran leadership outside of Shaun Ellis.
